A collection of small residential structures in Alhambra is poised to make way for a larger condominium complex, according to plans recently approved by Alhambra city officials.
The project at 110 S. Chapel Avenue, proposed by an entity affiliated with Foundwell Development Group, calls for the construction of a six-story building featuing 60 one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes above parking for 80 vehicles.
Project entitlements include density bonus incentives to prermit a larger building than otherwise allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, nine of the new homes are to be set aside for purchase by very low-income and extremely low-income households.
Tag Design Works is designing 110 Chapel, which is depicted in plans as a contemporary podium-type building.
The proposed development joins a handful of new multifamily residential buildings along nearby corridors, including a similar rental complex now wrapping up work across the street at 123 S. Chapel Avenue, and a recently-completed affordable housing development one block to the north at 103 N. Chapel Avenue.
