A new student housing complex has topped out at the California State University, Dominguez Hills campus, general contractor C.W. Driver Companies announced.

Located north of an existing residence hall near the intersection of International Avenue and Birchknoll Drive, the $76-million project will include housing for 365 students in a mix of single-, double-, triple-, and quadruple-bed configurations. Plans also call for a 21,000-square-foot dining commons with seating for 500 students.

At completion, the building is expected to achieved LEED Silver certification.

Steinberg Hart is designing the four-story building, with is to be clad in grey cement board siding, partially covered with murals. Plans also call for a multipurpose room, administrative spaces, shared laundry facilities, and a new courtyard which will offer open space to residents.

The new dormitory is intended to provide affordable housing for low-income students, and is funded in part by the State’s Higher Education Student Housing Grant Program.

At the time it started construction, completion was anticipated in May 2026. 

The project follows the completion of another CSUDH housing complex which opened on an adjacent site in 2020, as well as the addition of several new academic buildings along the northern section of the campus.
