In Hollywood, the steel skeleton of a new project which combines a Tesla charging facility with a diner and a drive-in theater is taking shape quickly at 7001 W. Santa Monica Boulevard.
The project, now rising on the former site of a Shakey's restaurant, will feature a 30-car surface parking lot, each space accommodating a charging station.
Stantec is designing futuristic-looking building, which will stand two stories and featuring outdoor seating located on a rooftop. A rendering also shows counter-style seating at the exterior of the building.
Building permits also indicate that a screen will be located along the perimeter of the site, allowing for the projection of films and images.
The new diner is reportedly a prototype for what could be a new form of deluxe Tesla charging stations which, if successful, would be rolled out in other cities across the country.
