AMCAL Multi-Housing Company is pivoting to development incentives through the Citywide Housing Incentive Program for a proposed affordable housing complex in Eagle Rock.

The proposed project, initially filed with the City of Los Angeles earlier this year, is slated for a property at 4900 Eagle Rock Boulevard. Plans call for the construction of a 64 apartments - all restricted to lower-income renters - in a pair of low-rise buildings.

Initial plans by BSB Design had called for the site to be developed with matching four-story structures, accompanied by parking for just 12 vehicles. A revised design by The Albert Group Architects, retains the 64-unit density with a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom floor plans, but increases the height of one of the proposed buildings to five stories. Likewise, the amount of parking proposed has increased to 32 vehicle spaces.

Other AMCAL projects in the works in Los Angeles County include a proposed 132-unit development near Metro's Downtown Santa Monica Station and a planned 100-unit building in Long Beach.

The site was previously slated for the construction of a 109-unit assisted living center by Panorama Senior Housing, which was approved by Los Angeles Planning officials in 2021, but never built.
