The site of a never-built senior housing development in Eagle Rock is now slated for the construction of affordable housing via the Mayor's Executive Directive 1.
Last week, AMCAL Multi-Housing Company submitted an application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning seeking approvals for of a two-building affordable housing complex at 4900 N. Eagle Rock Boulevard. The project site, an L-shaped property currently developed with four buildings, is slated for a pair of four-story structures featuring 64 one- and three-bedroom apartments with parking for 12 vehicles.
AMCAL would utilize density bonus incentives to permit a larger development than zoning rules would normally permit at this location. The project is eligible for incentives, as the project would cater to low- and moderate-income renters.
BSB Design is the project architect. Plans portray a pair of contemporary stucco-clad buildings, divided by a small garden space. Community rooms would be provided for residents at the ground floor.
The prior proposal from the site, a 109-unit assisted living center from Panorama Senior Housing, was approved by Los Angeles Planning officials in 2021, but never built.
