Nine months after the Eaton Fire destroyed much of Altadena, work is set to resume for a new affordable housing complex that was damaged in the blaze.

The Agave Apartments, under construction since July 2024 at 2052 Lake Avenue, is being developed by EAH Housing, and is to consist of a four-story building with 58 apartments above an 18-car garage.

The apartments are to be reserved for formerly homeless renters earning up to 30 percent of the area median income level.

FSY Architects is designing the project, which is of a contemporary style and will include a central courtyard.

According to FSY Architects, work on the project has resumed after months of repairs, and is set to be completed by January 2026. Many of the building's immediate neighbors were destroyed by the Eaton Fire.

EAH has recently developed several other projects in the Los Angeles area, including new buildings in Hollywood and Santa Monica.
