Just south of the 8th Street corridor in Koreatown, construction has gone vertical for yet another multifamily residential development from Jamison Services, Inc.
The Kara apartments, now under construction at 815-832 S. Kingsley Drive, will eventually consist of a six-story building featuring 114 apartments above two-level, 162-car basement parking garage.
As a condition of approval, Jamison is required to set aside 12 apartments as deed-restricted affordable housing for extremely low-income households, making the project eligible for Transit Oriented Communities development incentives.
DFH Architects is designing the Kara, which is portrayed in a rendering as a boxy low-rise structure clad in gray stucco and orange and white metal panels. Architectural plans show open space amenities including a rooftop amenity deck, a podium-level courtyard, and several interior common rooms.
The project is one of at least a half-dozen similar mixed-use projects planned or underway on sites along either side of 8th Street through Koreatown, including projects from Jamison Services at Western Avenue and Serrano Avenue.
