Two blocks east of Brand Boulevard in Glendale, the concrete forms of a new studio complex from East End Capital is starting to take shape.
The project, now under construction at 1239 S. Glendale Avenue, is being developed with a new three-story structure intended to feature two soundstages at its ground floor and 36,000 square feet of offices above. Additional components of the complex will include a rooftop deck and parking for 113 vehicles.
Designed by Relativity Architects presented in December 2021 to the Glendale Architectural Review Board call for the building to be clade in materials including concrete, fiber cement panels, blackened steel mullions, and wood-finish cement louvers.
Completion is expected in 2024, according to a landing page from the East End Studios website.
New York-based East End Capital, which reportedly purchased the 2.2-acre project site for $20 million in 2020, is developing approximately 2.5 million square feet of real estate in its East End Studios portfolio, including four projects in Los Angeles County. In addition to its under-construction Glendale development, those projects include new soundstages which would rise near the Sixth Street Viaduct in Boyle Heights and Downtown Los Angeles, as well as a second Glendale complex on San Fernando Road.
