A pair of single-family homes located just north of Slauson Avenue in Hyde Park could make way for affordable housing through the Mayor's Executive Directive 1.
The project, submitted for review in late October by Tommy Beadel, would rise from two parcels located at 5749-5753 S. Brynhurst Avenue. Plans call for the construction of a new four-story building featuring 53 two- and three-bedroom apartments. No on-site parking is required or planned, as the property is located within a half-mile of the K Line's Hyde Park Station at Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson.

According to plans included with the case filing, the project would cater to households at the low- and moderate-income levels.
Stockton Architects is designing the building, which would also include a central courtyard and a rear yard.

The development site sits directly across Brynhurst from a currently vacant lot at 3475 Slauson Avenue, where a groundbreaking ceremony was held earlier this year for a mixed-use project which would include 63 apartments above ground-floor commercial space. However, work on that project hast yet to proceed.
Beadel is also attached to plans for a similar ED1 affordable housing development in Boyle Heights.
