In Hollywood, a new office building from Bardas Investment Group just west of Vine Street looks just about finished.
Echelon at 6344 Fountain, located at the southeast corner of Fountain Avenue and Cahuenga Boulevard, combines reuse of existing buildings and new construction to create approximately 60,000 square feet of offices.
West of West designed the four-story development, which made use of cross-laminated timber in its construction. The building is arranged as a series of discrete blocks, featuring 2,800 square feet of native gardens and landscaping. Exterior finishes include extruded aluminum material with an imprinted wood texture.
"The first cross laminated timber and product in Hollywood delivers an intimate environment for all creative media team needs," reads a project narrative. "A combination of flexible floor plates along with an inspirational creative environment is well suited for all types of entertainment and media companies."
The team behind the project also includes House & Robertson Architects and Del Amo Construction.
Bardas, the West Hollywood-based firm behind the project, is investing heavily in Hollywood area offices, including plans for a $600-million redevelopment of the Television Center complex a short distance south on Cahuenga. In the nearer-term future, Bardas is already building another mid-sized office building at 1200 N. Cahuenga Boulevard, and recently broke ground on a large studio complex at 5601 Santa Monica Boulevard.
