More than one years since our last update, the exterior of an under-construction mixed-use building just off of Normandie Avenue in Gardena has been revealed.

The project from Los Angeles-based real estate firm South Bay Developers, under construction since 2022 at 1341 Gardena Boulevard, consists of a three-story, approximately 22,700-square-foot building on the property which will feature 15 apartments above ground-floor commercial space.

A rendering posted to the South Bay Developers website depicts the finished product as a contemporary low-rise building with a brick exterior on its two lower levels and a rooftop terrace above. The as-yet unfinished development incorporates brick and stucco as its facade.

South Bay Developers, in addition to its Gardena project, has also developed larger mixed-use buildings on 5th and 7th Streets in Downtown San Pedro.

The project site sits a short distance to the south of a site on Normandie Avenue where 30 townhomes are now under construction. A few blocks to the south, a new SRO-style apartment building opened in 2022.
