Just north of the Walk of Fame in Hollywood, construction is complete for a new multifamily residential complex from developer CGI.
The Baxter, located at 1818 N. Cherokee Avenue, consists of a seven-story edifice featuring 86 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments above a two-level, 61-car basement garage.
CGI secured approvals for the project using density bonus incentives to permit a larger structure than allowed by zoning rules. Thus, the developer is required to set aside 21 apartments as deed-restricted affordable housing at the very low-income level.
A leasing website indicates that rents for the Baxter start at nearly $2,500 per month and range as high as $3,700 per month. Floor plans range from 650 to 1,250 square feet in size.
AC Martin designed the podium-type building, which has an exterior that references older residential buildings in the Hollywood. On site amenities include a gym, a clubhouse, and a rooftop pool deck.
Other projects from Woodland Hills-based CGI include a proposed hotel and condo complex near the Wilshire/La Brea subway station, a 525-unit residential development slated for West Carson, and a proposed 20-story tower on Cahuenga Boulevard.
