An early 20th century home in Echo Park is slated to give way to affordable housing, per a new application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.
The ED1 project from Building Bloch Capital, planned for a site at 2227 W. Scott Avenue, calls for the construction of a six-story building featuring 39 studio and one-bedroom apartments without on-site parking.
With the exception of a market-rate manager's unit, the apartments are proposed to be low-income housing. As a 100 percent affordable development, the project would be eligible for density bonus incentives permitting a larger structure than otherwise allowed by zoning rules.
Aero Collective is designing the project, which is portrayed in a rendering as a contemporary low-rise structure.
The project site sits a few blocks south of a property on Allesandro Street where Standard Oil Realty has pitched plans for a larger, predominantly market-rate apartment complex with ground-floor commercial space.
Building Bloch and Aero Collective are also working on a similar ED1 affordable housing development on Klump Avenue in North Hollywood.
