Kitchen and bath showroom Snyder Diamond is putting its Santa Monica location up for redevelopment, according to an application recently filed with the city.

The property, located across the street from Memorial Park at 1399 W. Olympic Boulevard, is slated for the construction of a new eight-story edifice featuring 222 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments above approximately 9,484 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and a two-level, 211-car subterranean parking garage.

Requested entitlements include density bonus incentives to permit more housing than would otherwise be allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, 35 of the new apartments would be set aside for rent as low-, very low-, and moderate-income affordable housing.

DFH Architects is designing 1399 Olympic, which is shown in plans as a contemporary podium-type building divided into three blocks, separated by courtyards and amenity decks.

At an August community outreach meeting, a representative of the project indicated that it may take as many as five or six years to come to fruition.

The site is located directly south of a property at 1640 14th Street which was recently redeveloped with and office building.
