The Los Angeles City Planning Commission has given the go-ahead for the construction of a mixed-use building across the street from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Grove.
The proposed development from property owner Peyman Banooni, slated to replace a commercial building 8620 W. 3rd Street, calls for the construction of a new five-story edifice featuring 18 one-bedroom apartments with 8,550 square feet of medical offices on the first and second floors. Plans also call for eight parking space in a subterranean garage.
Commission approval grants density bonus incentives to permit a larger structure than otherwise allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, three of the new apartments would be set aside for rent as affordable housing at the very low-income level.
Aaron Brumer & Associates is designing the project, which would include a large amenity deck at the rooftop.
The proposed project is one of a handful of new mixed-use building planned near Cedars-Sinai, including a proposed 45-unit mixed-use complex a short distance west at 8550 3rd Street.
Farther north, Cedars has plans of its own for a new patient tower at the intersection of Beverly and San Vicente Boulevards.
