A single-family home on the western side of Koreatown is slated to give way for new multifamily housing, per a recent application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.
The project from applicant Jafar Shahbaz, slated for a site at 810 S. Wilton Place, calls for the construction of a new six-story edifice featuring 16 two-bedroom apartments above parking for five vehicles.
Requested entitlements include Transit Oriented Communities incentives, permitting a larger structure than allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, two of the apartments would be set aside for rent as affordable housing at the extremely low-income level.
BBA Studios is designing the project, which is depicted in plans as a contemporary podium-type building.
The project site is located just south of a property recently developed with a similar apartment building at 726 S. Wilton Place, and three blocks from Wilton's intersection with Wilshire Boulevard, where a larger mixed-use complex opened in 2021.
This is the second application in the past five years for the property at 810 S. Wilton Place. A similarly-scaled apartment building was proposed in 2021.
