In Del Rey, local real estate firm Category has commenced work on its latest multifamily residential development.

The project, located just off of Culver Boulevard at 4424-4438 S. Slauson Avenue, is approved for the construction of a new four-story building that will feature 34 apartments above a 49-car subterranean parking garage.

Category utilized density bonus incentives to permit a larger structures than zoning rules would normally allow. In exchange, three of the apartments are to be set aside for rent as affordable housing at the very low-income level.

The site is located around the block from a mixed-use apartment building completed on Culver Boulevard in 2021.

Category, which previously developed a 15-unit apartment complex near Ballona Creek in Del Rey, is currently planning larger mixed-use buildings in Beverly Grove and Mid-Wilshire.
