New housing is taking shape on a site previously developed with small commercial buildings and surface parking in Redondo Beach.
Shea Homes, a Walnut-based residential developer, is in the midst of construction at a new townhome complex a short distance south of the South Bay Galleria. The project, dubbed The Foundry, will consist of 36 three-story townhomes, each featuring a rooftop deck and a two-car garage at street level.
According to a project website, plans call for a mix of two-, three-, and floor plans ranging from 1,871 to 2,251 square feet in size. Renderings depict The Foundry with contemporary low-rise buildings clad in stucco.
Pricing for the project has not been released.
The development site is located just a half-mile of two potential sites for new stops on Metro's C Line extension, which would run from a terminus just west of the 405 Freeway in Redondo beach to Torrance.
Previous Shea Homes projects in Los Angeles County include a small lot subdivision in Highland Park and a mixed-use apartment complex in Northridge.
