A single-family home near the Western and Melrose in the Larchmont neighborhood is slated to give way for new affordable housing, per a recent application to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.
The proposed project, filed by an entity affiliated with Angeleno Investments, would rise from a site at 4938 W. Maplewood Avenue Plans call for the construction of a new four-story building containing 33 two- and three-bedroom apartments without on-site parking.
In addition to using the streamlining provisions of the Mayor's Executive Directive 1, the project relies on incentives to permit waivers from certain zoning rules. All of the homes would be set aside for rent by low- and moderate-income households, save for a manager's apartment.
Open Office is designing the project, according to plans included with the application.
Angeleno Investments and Open Office are also attached similar affordable housing developments planned at 6942 Baird Avenue in Reseda, 10912 Huston Street in North Hollywood, and 3342 N. Chapman Street in Glassell Park.
