A pair of single-family homes in Sawtelle are slated to give way to affordable housing, according to an application recently filed with the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.

The project, proposed by prolific affordable housing development firm HVN Development, would rise at 1928 S. Federal Avenue. The company has proposed the construction of a five-story building featuring 73 one- and two-bedroom apartments without on-site parking.

According to plans, the proposed apartments will be earmarked for low- and moderate-income renters, making the proposal eligible for local housing development incentives.

The project is located blocks from two similar affordable housing projects now being built by Passo along Stoner Avenue and Barrington Avenue.

HVN is developing more than one dozen affordable housing projects within the City of Los Angeles, including a new development under construction near Expo/Bundy Station in Sawtelle.
