Next door to Robert E. Gross Park in Burbank, wood framing is complete for a new affordable housing complex from ABS Properties.

The project, which replaced Kid's Castle at 2814 Empire Avenue, consists of a seven-story building that will feature 148 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments when completed. The apartments will range from 450 to 900 square feet in size, according to approved plans.

According to the City of Burbank's website, the apartments are to be divided into 83 units designated for very low- and extremely low-income households and 62 apartments for low-income households.

Edwin Mohabir Architects is designing the project, according to plans.

The project is one of three new affordable housing projects planned by the same development team in the near vicinity, including projects at 3000 and 3001 Empire Avenue. Combined, the three developments will account for more than 600 new homes.

ABS is also developing affordable housing at multiple sites in Hollywood - including a proposed 35-story tower.
