One year since we last dropped by in Midtown Long Beach, completion nears for Meta Housing Corp.'s new affordable housing complex near the A Line's Willow Station.
The project, located at 2400 Long Beach Boulevard, replaced a school bus parking lot with five-story building featuring 194 apartments above 5,622 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.
According to a December 2021 staff report to the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee, the apartments will include a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom floor plans, with rents set for households earning between 30 and 70 percent of the area median income level.
The Architects Collective designed the contemporary podium-type building, which includes a central courtyard.
The project is the latest in a string of affordable housing developments recently built along the A Line's right-of-way on Long Beach Boulevard. Meta Housing Corp. is no stranger to this trend, having broken ground last year on a similar project not far south at 1400 Long Beach Boulevard.
