A property owner is reviving plans to bring a Best Western hotel to an empty lot in Jefferson Park, according to plans recently filed with the L.A. Department of City Planning.
On May 12, Hitendra Patel submitted an application to build a three-story, 59-room hotel located at 2645 S. Western Avenue. Plans also call for on-site parking for 46 vehicles.
Studio M + A are designing the project, which would rise at the northwest corner of Western and 27th Street, and is depicted in plans with Streamline Moderne features. As noted years ago in our comments section, the building bears a resemblance to the historic Coca-Cola Building in Downtown Los Angeles. Plans show a C-shaped footprint with an outdoor patio on the second level.
If you have been hit with a case of Déjà vu, there's a good reason for that. Patel previously entitled the for a hotel with an identical exterior and 77 guest rooms. Although building permits were issued for the project in 2020, work never progressed beyond clearing the site for construction.
The project site is located on a stretch of Western through Jefferson Park where CIM Group has either planned or recently developed a slew of multifamily residential buildings.
