A hotel located on the north end of Downtown Glendale is set to be converted into housing, according to an application recently filed with Glendale's Planning Department.
The project, planned for the 351-room Hilton located at 100 W. Glenoaks Boulevard, would become a "luxury high-rise residential condo," per the filing, which does not detail the total number of units planned. The 19-story building was completed in 1990, according to property records.
The filing for the proposed adaptive reuse project also references an earlier plan to build a new hotel tower on an adjacent site at 135-190 Glenoaks. In 2019, the Glendale City Council reviewed proposals from the Kam Sang Company to build a 25-story building above a portion of the Verdugo Wash featuring 226 guest rooms, 7,500 square feet of restaurant space, 20,000 square feet of ballrooms and meeting spaces, and approximately 18,000 square feet of office space.
Kam Sang Company acquired the Hilton and the adjacent land in 2017 for more than $73 million.
The project will be subject to design review by the City of Glendale, according to the filing.
Plans for the Glenoaks site follow a recent proposal from developer Izek Shomof to transform a 19-story office tower on Brand Boulevard into housing. Likewise, Onni Group has plans for a high-rise residential complex south across the 134 Freeway from the Glenoaks site.
