In Koreatown, vertical construction is now complete for another multifamily residential development from Jamison Services, Inc along the 8th Street corridor.

The Kara apartments, located at 815-832 S. Kingsley Drive, consists of a six-story building which will feature 114 apartments above two-level, 162-car basement parking garage. 

Jamison entitled the project site for development using Transit Oriented Communities development incentives to permit a larger structure than zoning rules would typically allow. In exchange, Jamison is required to set aside 12 apartments as deed-restricted affordable housing for extremely low-income households.

DFH Architects is designing the Kara, which is portrayed in a rendering as a contemporary low-rise building clad in gray stucco and orange and white metal panels. Besides housing, the building would incorporate amenities such as a rooftop amenity deck, a podium-level courtyard, and several interior common rooms.

The project is one of at least a half-dozen similar mixed-use projects planned or underway on sites along either side of 8th Street through Koreatown, including projects from Jamison Services at Western Avenue and Serrano Avenue.
