More than a half-year after we last stopped by in Inglewood, the tower crane is gone from the southwest corner of La Brea and Florence Avenues, where vertical construction is now complete new mixed-use apartment complex.

The project at 201 N. La Brea Avenue, which replaced a pair of small commercial buildings, consists of a six-story structure that will eventually feature 144 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments above ground-floor commercial space.

Urban Architecture Lab is designing 201 La Brea, which will eventually be clad in materials including stucco and corrugated metal panels. Plans call for amenity decks to be located at the podium and roof levels.

Los Angeles County Assessor's records list the owner of the site as 201 North La Brea, LLC, an Aliso Viejo-based entity linked to Frontera Capital, LLC.

KCS West is serving as the project's general contractor.

The project site sits directly across La Brea Avenue from Astra, a larger mixed-use complex from Thomas Safran & Associates which will include 242 apartments and a ground-floor Target on a site which also fronts Market Street. Another proposed mixed-use project, slated for a site a few blocks south, would bring an additional 143 apartments to a site at 317 S. La Brea Avenue.

Both projects sit within walking distance of the K Line's Downtown Inglewood Station, and potentially in close proximity to the northern terminus of Inglewood's proposed people mover system, which would link the city's historic commercial core to SoFi Stadium and Intuit Dome, the future home of the Los Angeles Clippers.
