Eight years after becoming an Instagram mainstay with a pop-up location in the Arts District, the Museum of Ice Cream will return to Los Angeles by opening what is described as its first-ever ground-up flagship destination.
The new 23,000-square-foot space - triple the size of the original - will be within an under-construction development located at 5252 West Adams Boulevard. The three-story building will have a pink facade and ground-floor experiences to activate the street level.
“West Adams is an emerging culinary corridor with an evolving dining scene, innovative bakeries, and coffee shops that have attracted chefs and entrepreneurs seeking to bring new experiences to Los Angeles. Museum of Ice Cream is thrilled to add to the creativity and energy of the area,” said Museum of Ice Cream chief executive officer Manish Vora in a news release. “We selected Los Angeles for our most ambitious project yet as the city has always been at the heart of pop culture, storytelling and reinvention.”
The Museum of Ice Cream is slated to open in 2026, and will include 15 interactive installations with a Los Angeles twist. They will include a 100-foot-long double helix slide that extends the three-story height of the building, as well as a Santa Monica Pier-themed carnival experience, a tiki bar, and the world's largest sprinkle pool.
The permanent flagship joins other Musuem of Ice Cream outposts in Las Vegas, Chicago, Miami, Boston, Austin, and Singapore, as well as the original in New York.
The developer of this very pink building is CIM Group, which has invested heavily in the West Adams and Jefferson Park neighborhoods, building offices, large apartment buildings, and even a hotel.
