In what is becoming a familiar tale, Cypress Equity Investments has gone back to the drawing board with a mixed-use project planned in Santa Monica.

Since 2022, the Los Angeles-based developer has been pursuing a project at 2025 Wilshire Boulevard which calls for replacing a stretch of commercial buildings with a new multifamily residential complex with ground-floor commercial uses. Originally planned as a four-story building with 46 dwellings, and updated proposal revealed by a project website points to a larger eight-story development which would featuring 150 residential units above ground-floor commercial space and a three-level, 205-car subterranean parking structure.

A rendering of the updated plan depicts a contemporary brown- and beige-colored building with perforated metal panels wrapping balconies and an opening cut into the interior of the structure.

The earlier iteration of the project was expected to provide off-site affordable housing in a building on 19th Street.

The proposed apartment complex from CEI is one of three new developments the company has in the works for Wilshire Boulevard, and more than a half-dozen now planned across the City of Santa Monica.
