AEG has completed the closure of Chick Hearn Court in Downtown Los Angeles, turning the dividing line between Crypto.com Arena and L.A. Live into a pedestrian plaza.

Chick Hearn Court, a stretch of 11th Street renamed in honor of the legendary Lakers broadcaster, has been closed to vehicle traffic between Figueroa Street to the east and Georgia Street to the west. That will allow the space to now serve as an extension of Peacock Plaza, the outdoor open area surrounded by the various shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues associated with L.A. Live.
The design of the newly pedestrianized Chick Hearn Court sticks close to conceptual renderings, albeit with digital signage on pylons added to rows of palm trees.
Closure of the street is tied to an ongoing renovation of Crypto.com Arena. The nine-figure overhaul will open up skyline views from the interior of the arena toward the Downtown skyline to the north.
The plaza could also serve as an easy walking path to the Los Angeles Convention Center, where a long-proposed expansion could commence work later this year, and a planned addition to the J.W. Marriott hotel complex, which has a less certain timeline due to economic conditions.
