A 1970s assisted living facility in Glendale will be transformed into senior affordable housing, developer EAH Housing has announced.
Parkview Glendale, which will make use of an existing two-story structure at 426 Piedmont Avenue and 507 Naranja Drive, will include 68 studio and one-bedroom apartments, all equipped with appliances, central heating and air, and window coverings.
Egan Simon Architecture and ICON National are serving as architect and general contractor, respectively. Plans for the 43,000-square-foot building include a community room, a community garden, courtyards, a resident lounge, on-site laundry, management offices, parking, and a coordinator for resident services.
“The City of Glendale has invested in Parkview Glendale because affordable housing is critical to developing a thriving community,” said Glendale Mayor Ara Najarian in a news release. “This project allows older adults to age with dignity, stay connected to their community, and live close to essential services. This kind of smart, compassionate redevelopment strengthens Glendale for everyone – not just today’s older adults, but future generations.”
Additional senior housing had been planned for a site a few blocks to the west on Glendale Avenue. However, that property will instead become the location of the first Erewhon market in Glendale, the City of Glendale announced last year.
EAH Housing is active in jurisdictions across Los Angeles County, with proposed or under-construction projects in West Hollywood, Altadena, and Santa Monica.
