In Broadway-Manchester, a shuttered car wash just north of the 105 Freeway has been cleared for the construction of yet another multifamily residential complex from SoLa Impact.
Located at 110 W. Imperial Highway, a corner lot at the intersection of Imperial and Main Street, the project approved earlier this year by Los Angeles planning officials will consist of a new podium-type apartment complex featuring 121 one- and two-bedroom dwellings above parking for 60 vehicles.
The project makes use of Transit Oriented Communities incentives to permit a larger building than would normally be allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, 28 of the new apartments would be set aside for rent as low-income affordable housing.
Breen Engineering is designing 110 Imperial, which is shown in renderings as a contemporary five-story structure with a U-shaped footprint above its podium level. A central courtyard would be located above the podium, and include additional open space in the form of rooftop decks and balconies on some units.
The project is one of a handful which SoLa Impact is developing along Imperial Highway in Broadway-Manchester, including a similar 84-unit apartment complex now taking shape a short distance south at Main's intersection with 116th Street and an even larger mixed-use complex which would rise a short distance west at Imperial's intersection with Broadway.
