One year after our last updated in Westwood, a multifamily residential development Brennen Hakimian has gone from "dirt pit" to "fully framed."
The project, under construction at 10939 Ohio Avenue, sits on a corner lot at the street's intersection with Veteran Avenue. The six-story edifice is set to contain 18 studio, one-, two-, three-, four-, and five-bedroom apartments, as well as basement parking for 12 vehicles.
Hakimian entitled the site with Transit Oriented Communities incentives, which allow for a larger structure with less parking than would normally be required under zoning rules. In exchange, three apartments are to be set aside for rent by extremely low-income households.
Warren Techentin Architecture is designing the podium- type building, which is shown in plans with an exterior of smooth stucco and perforated metal panels painted mint green. The building was previously described in our comment section has having a "Gaudi vibe" and looking like "Casa Milà meets an 80s office building.
The project is the three developments from Hakimian and Techentin along the short stretch of Veteran Avenue between Wilkins Avenue to the north and Massachusetts Avenue to the south, including a building set to begin construction 1402 Veteran and a larger complex at 1505 Veteran.
