The City of Torrance has signed off on a project which will redevelop a Los Angeles County-leased office building with housing.
On June 18, the Torrance City Council approved plans from Rose Equities and Garden Communities to build up to 272 apartments on a site at 2325 Crenshaw Boulevard. Plans call for four new buildings with a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments as well as a two-level, 467-car garage.
The new development, named the Torrance Del Amo project, would include 28 units of very low-income affordable housing, making it eligible for density bonus incentives.
Moore Ruble Yudell Architects & Planners is designing the project, according to plans included with an environmental study.
Upon groundbreaking, construction of the apartment complex is expected to take roughly 30 months.
Rose Equities, one of the co-developers, is also attached to a larger project with more than 1,000 residential units in Costa Mesa.
