Almost one year after our last update, construction is now in the home stretch for West Terrace, a new permanent supportive housing complex located just north of the K Line's Fairview Heights Station.

The project from non-profit developer A Community of Friends, located on a previously vacant site at 6604 S. West Boulevard, consists of a four-story building that will feature 64 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments as well as on-site supportive services.

FSY Architects is designing the West Terrace, which will also include amenities such as a community room, a playground, a courtyard, and a garden. The near-finished product closely resembles a conceptual rendering released at the time of the project's groundbreaking in April 2021.

Completion of the project, which recently saw the conclusion of its pre-application period, was originally anticipated in Summer 2022. The apartments are reserved for households earning at or below 30 and 50 percent of the area median income level.

A Community of Friends, the developer, was also behind an adjacent supportive housing development - the 49-unit Silver Star apartments - which opened in 2017. The non-profit's other projects include the Lorena Plaza apartments now rising in Boyle Heights.
