Artesia is one of Los Angeles County's Gateway Cities, a community of 16,522 surrounded by Cerritos and Norwalk. Pioneer Boulevard, one of the major commercial thoroughfare through the city, is flanked on both sides by a large concentration of Indian-owned stores and restaurants, leading some to dub the area as "Little India."
