In a given year, Urbanize LA publishes more than 900 articles covering a full range of topics from new developments to community plan updates, plus our weekend roundups of headlines from other publications. Sad to say, not everything I write winds up being a winner (at least in terms of generating traffic for the website).
With a hat tip to Josh at Urbanize Atlanta who came up with the idea, here's at 10 stories from the past year which, for whatever reason, you guys just weren't interested in reading at the time. Although based on common characteristics, I'd say that it's because they're modest affordable housing developments or townhome projects published on a Sunday. But hey, maybe they'll move up the list now that they've landed here.
The property, located at 244 George Hensel Drive, occupies a corner lot across the street from Montebello City Park and along the north side of Olympic Boulevard. Holos Communities, the developer leading the adaptive reuse project, intends to convert the existing two-story structure into 57 units of affordable and permanent supportive housing, as well as various on-site amenities.
The project slated for the approximately 14,250-square-foot site, which consists of two parcels, would see the construction of a new five-story building featuring 43 apartments - all of which would be set aside for rent as affordable housing save for a required manager's unit.
The project, which sits on a roughly 2.5-acre property at 2500 Rosecrans Avenue, just west of Van Ness Avenue. The completed development will include a total of 52 townhomes, inclusive of three live/work units facing Rosecrans.
Property records list the owner of the site as United Holy Church of America. The church describes itself as "the oldest African American Holiness Pentecostal body in the world."
...the project will consist of 55 one-bedroom apartments for unhoused seniors, as well as a two-bedroom manager's unit. Other features include supportive services and a 19-car surface parking lot.
Plans call for exterior finishes including aluminum storefront, fiber cement panels, and smooth finish plaster. Additionally, textured fiber cement panels are slated for the ground level street frontage.
Rosewood Village townhomes debut in Commerce: The final unit is listed for sale at $709,000
The project, which consists of 31 homes, includes a mix of three- and four-bedroom units ranging from 1,263 to 1,554 square feet in size.
...slated for a property at 824 E. Jefferson Boulevard, would consist of a new five-story building featuring 55 apartments above community space at the ground floor. Plans call for 54 of those apartments to be used as permanent supportive housing for formerly unhoused residents, as well as on-site supportive services.
Located at 1335 W. 141st Street, the finished project will consist of 50 two- and three-bedroom townhomes up to 1,743 square feet in size. Each unit will feature two-car tandem parking garage at street level, as well as private decks and patios.
The project from Hollywood Community Housing Corp., now under construction at 7600 Pacific Avenue, will eventually consist of a four-story complex featuring 64 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments above 48 basement parking spaces.
