The City of Pico Rivera has signed off on an Orange County company's plan to redevelop the Knights Inn hotel with for-sale housing.
The project from Irvine-based Brandywine Homes, approved this month for a site at 6540 Rosemead Boulevard, calls for razing the existing hotel to make way for a 95-unit gated townhome complex featuring a common pool and parking.
Danielian Associates is designing the townhomes, which would be located in 16 new three-story structures across a four-acre site. Plans describe a mix of two-, three-, and four-bedroom dwellings, with a total of 214 parking spaces provided for residents and guests.
Construction of 6540 Rosemead is expected to occur over approximately 32 months, according to a study submitted to the city.
The proposed project would line a corridor where the City of Pico Rivera hopes to bring a new bus rapid transit line which would run as far south as Long Beach and north to unincorporated East Pasadena. The city has also looked to revamp its zoning rules in anticipating of the new bus lane, as well as a forthcoming Metro Rail stop.
Other Brandywine projects in L.A. County include townhomes in Whittier, Long Beach, and Carson.
