A year-and-a-half after commencing construction in West Adams, concrete pillars now protrude above street level for the latest mixed-use apartment complex from CIM Group.
The project, which is located on a corner lot at 5217 W. Adams Boulevard, will eventually consist of a six-story building featuring 74 one- and two-bedroom apartments above approximately 9,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Subterranean parking will sit below the podium-type building.
Project approvals include Transit Oriented Communities incentives permitting increased height, floor area, and density. In exchange, six of the proposed apartments would be set aside for rent by extremely low-income households.
Hwangbo Architecture is designing the contemporary apartment complex, according to city records.
The project site, which sits at the northeast corner of Adams and Redondo Boulevard, had sat partially vacant for roughly 30 years after the 1992 uprising.
The 5217 Adams development is one of dozens of projects from CIM Group in the West Adams neighborhood, including similar apartment buildings at 5109 and 5201 Adams.
