An empty lot located a few steps north of the E Line's Farmdale Station in West Adams could yield new Executive Directive 1 affordable housing, according to an application submitted recently to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.

The proposed development from Lindon Shiao, slated for a property located at 3434 Chesapeake Avenue, would consist of a five-story building featuring 66 studio and one-bedroom apartments without on-site parking.

Save for a single market-rate manager's unit, all of the apartments would be reserved for occupancy by low- and moderate-income residents, making the project eligible for density bonus incentives to permit a larger building than otherwise allowed by zoning rules.

Kevin Tsai Architecture is designing the proposed apartment complex, which would be clad in a combination of metal and painted stucco.

The proposed development is the second from Shiao and Kevin Tsai Architecture to arise in recent weeks, following similar plans for an 82-unit development near Expo/Bundy Station in Sawtelle.
