In Sawtelle, framing is complete for a new affordable housing complex from Los Angeles-based developer Passo.

Located on the former site of a triplex at 1734 S. Barrington Avenue, the project consists of a six-story building that will feature 37 studio and one-bedroom apartments without on-site parking when complete

Conditions of approval require that all of the apartments, save for a mandatory manager's unit, be rented to very low-, low-, and moderate-income households.. As a fully affordable development, the project was eligible for density bonus incentives permitting a larger building than otherwise allowed by zoning rules, as well as streamlined approvals through Executive Directive 1.

Passo, in addition to its proposed project on Barrington Avenue, is developing similar projects along Stoner Avenue in Sawtelle and on Centinela Avenue in Del Rey. Passo also has plans for at least two additional Sawtelle developments on Saltair Avenue and Exposition Boulevard.
