In a familiar tale, construction is complete for yet another mixed-use development from CIM Group in West Adams.

The Read, located at 5217 W. Adams Boulevard, derives its name from its cross streets of Redondo and Adams. The new six-story building features 74 one- and two-bedroom apartments above approximately 9,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space above a parking garage.

Project entitlements include Transit Oriented Communities incentives, allowing for a larger building than zoning rules would have otherwise permitted. In exchange, six of the proposed apartments are to be set aside for rent by extremely low-income households.

For the project's market-rate units, a leasing website advertises monthly rents ranging from $2,450 to $3,395 per month.

Hwangbo Architecture designed the contemporary apartment complex, according to city records.

The 5217 Adams development is one of dozens of projects from CIM Group in the West Adams neighborhood, including similar apartment buildings at 5109 and 5201 Adams.
