A pending presentation to the Westwood Design Review Board offers a look at plans to redevelop a pair of 1940s apartment buildings near UCLA with a larger multifamily residential complex.

The proposed project at 523-529 Glenrock Avenue, which comes from applicant Jamie Akhavi through the entities 529 Glenrock, LLC and A.C.A., LLC, would consist of a seven-story building featuring 64 apartments above basement parking for 25 vehicles.

Requested entitlements include density bonus incentives to permit a larger structure than otherwise allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, nine of the proposed studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments would be set aside for rent as very low-income affordable housing.

Jamie B. Myer Architects is designing the contemporary podium-type building, which would incorporate a central courtyard and a rooftop amenity deck.

The project is one of several new developments coming down the pike in Westwood that have invoked new state legislation, including multiple 12-story towers. One such project is a LOHA-designed building now rising next door along Glenrock Avenue.
